MORE CHICAGO
30.12.2004
Utech Records have released my performance at Chicago's WNUR radio (just a few days after the Empty Bottle gig) as a 50 copies limited edition CD-R in a handsome package. Titled "Spaghetti Western Rainbow", it's a homage to my hero the great Ennio Morricone. Available from me at a low low price.

TSUNAMI
29.12.2004
I'm bummed out about the tragedy in South-East Asia too.

MP3 HERO
28.12.2004
Download a portion of my solo concert at the Adventures in Modern Music at The Empty Bottle in Chicago this september at The Wire's homepage. Scroll down a bit and you'll find it next to Borbetomagus (which you should download instead actually). Speaking of mp3; in the first half of 2005 the mp3 section of this page will radically expanded. That's my new year's vow.

NOVEMBER BLURRRR
18.11.2004
Had an amazing time in Buenos Aires. Thanks to Moncho, Anla and all the nice people we met there for making it the experience it was. Pics will be up soon. Some downers upon returning home; John Peel and John Balance died, Bush reelected and the first sign of snow in Oslo. On the positive side; the new All Ears site is up. The next festival is going to be held in Oslo and Stockholm - at the same time. Not many releases this side of christmas, but a string of things coming in 2005, including a metal album from Jazzkammer, so stay tuned.

GOING TO ARGENTINA
20.10.2004
Going to Buenos Aires, Argentina next week. Doing shows; live, radio and TV + a panel. This will be my frist visit to South-America so I'm really looking forward to it. Special thanks to our friend Anla Courtis, who has made it all possible. Also; in Buenos Aires me, Courtis and Mr. Hegre will do the last ever solo show of the man with a thousand faces; Tore H. Bøe. Five years ago I helped start his solo career (posing as him in France), so I guess it's only appropriate I help end it as well.

THE RAVEN
14.10.2004
Out now: The CD "Ravn" is an aural document of the visual performance of the same name which was staged in Trondheim in 2002. This experimental performance included noise, skaters, free improvisation, throatsinging, ambient techno and an old Norwegian ballad. Produced by Tara Media, the CD can be ordered from: post@taramedia.no Participants included Lasse Marhaug, Aase-Hilde Brekke, Tore Bøe, Morten Abildsnes, Tania Stene and Michael Duch.

MP3 IS KILLING MUSIC
02.10.2004
I'm this months mp3-DJ at Pilota's online mp3 radio. Tune in and listen to my selection of amazing music, with artists like Beherit, Lee Hazlewood, Krigshot, Faye Wong, Brainbombs, Celtic Frost, Violent Onsen Geisha and others. It's all good (and free).

30 AND COUNTING
13.09.2004
I turned 30 a few days ago. So finally I'm an adult. Thanks to all who came to my big birthday party, and especially to those who played.

JOINING NEW BAND
5.09.2004
Going to spend the last half of september in Chicago as part of Ken Vandermark's third version of the twelve piece project TERRITORY BAND. We'll be doing two shows + recording an album. I will also be playing at the "Adventures in Modern Music 2004" festival at the Empty Bottle.

ON TOUR WITH NOXAGT
4.09.2004
Next week I'll go on tour in Norway with Noxagt. Seven shows, should be fun. This is actually my first tour of Norway since 1998.

GHETTO BLASTED
27.08.2004
I have written a piece for the eight man strong danish Ghettoblaster Ensemble. The piece is called "Sine Wave Babylon" and will be performed for the first time at the Gerlesborgskolan in Hamburgsund, Sweden next week. Info here.

NOR-NOISE
24.08.2004
"Nor-Noise" - a 115 minute documentary with interviews of Otomo Yoshihide, Tore H. Bøe, Franscisco López, Helge Sten, Maja Ratkje, Masami Akita and several others (including yours truly) will be released on DVD by [ohm] Records in september. The DVD will come with a full lenght compilation CD of norwegian noise artists, including Jazzkammer, Crazy River, Norwegian Noise Orchestra, Fe-Mail and more. All new and exclusive tracks. Quite a massive package. The DVD is in PAL format, but should play fine on all computers. Copies available from the shop section. See the artwork in the visual:misc section.

EVIL CARD
23.08.2004
Out now on Synesthetic Recordings is a credit card size solo CD-R called "Evil Has No Laundry". This is a single track from the "Nothing But Sound From Now On" sessions in 2001 that I was very pleased with, but it somehow didn't fit on the album. I'm pleased it has now found a home. Available from here.

LESBIAN BRUNCH
5.08.2004
The good people at Gameboy Records have put out a limited 3" CD-R of a live collaboration of me Carlos Giffoni recorded at the Stereophonics record store in Antwerp, Belgium july 2003. Titled "Lesbian Brunch" (don't ask!). Order only from Gameboy directly.

ROCKING REVIEWS
5.07.2004
"Shape of Rock to come" should be available most everywhere by now. Been getting good reviews in the UK, shows the english never had any taste, here's a recent one.

ON THE BUS WITH SENIOR LÓPEZ
25.06.2004
It seems the good people at Pilota.fm have put my live collaboration with Francisco López at the Trollofon festival from the 25th of may 2003 online to download. This is a concert at a moving trolleybus. The untitled-man with no blindfolds and in broad daylight. Also on the pilota site is an interview with the two of us, which is actually better.

I'M HALF JAPANESE
19.06.2004
A split CD with my good friends Niko Skorpio and Kouhei Matsunaga is out now on japanese label Deserted Factory. One of Kouhei's tracks is a collaboration done telepathically; we recorded at an specified time on our own in Oslo and Osaka, then put the two recordings on top of each other.

AND YET ANOTHER NEW RELEASE: LOVIN'
18.06.2004
OK, and another one: our good friends at Bottrop-Boy is releasing a CD of me and Maja Ratkje called "Music for Loving" this week. This is the follow-up to 2002's "Music for Shopping". "Loving" continues where "Shopping" ended; psychotic cut-up samples of stoner rock, piano, Mariah Carrey, Hank Williams and hip-hop broken, sliced and chewed by the Ratkje/Marhaug machinery. It's peace and love - the hard way. A mantra for George Bush to choke on his burger.

YET ANOTHER NEW RELEASE: MALE PIGS
13.06.2004
It's here! The long awaited (by me at least) Fe-Mail featuring Lasse collaboration CD. "All Men Are Pigs" is out this week on Gameboy Records. My lifelong dream of being in a girlband is finally fulfilled, and it sounds good too. To make it even better, cover art is by english artist Rik Rawling, who agreed to do it based on the title alone.

ANOTHER NEW RELEASE: HOME MUSIC
12.06.2004
"Feel Free at Home" - the debut CD of the Rishaug Marhaug project is now out on Lucky Kitchen. Although me and Alexander have been working together since 1998 this our first full lenght release. This album have been in the works since 2000.

NEW RELEASE: DEATH METAL MELTDOWN
11.06.2004
Swedish punk label Lady Godiva have released an 12" vinyl with sidelong remixes of swedish grindcore/death metal band Asterisk* by me and Merzbow. Titled "Dogma V: Decomposing Dogma". Buy it and listen to the mangled sounds of blastbeats rotting. --- Speaking of Merzbow, [ohm] Records has just released a new 3" mini-CD called "Mini Cycle". Cover design by yours truly. I even got a few copies to sell.

BACK FROM BURGERLAND
10.06.2004
Just home from the Jazzkammer/Howard Stelzer USA tour. All 14 shows went well. Thanks to all who came to see us play + special thanks to our friend Howie for making it all happen.

THROBBING LONDON PICNIC
18.05.2004
Back from a nice weekend in London. Show with Ronnie at Sound 323 went well. Thanks to Mark for setting it up on such short notice. Me and Ron will start working on an album together later this year. And on sunday we saw Throbbing Gristle at the London Astoria. TG has been a huge influence for me since I first heard them as a young teenager. When they split up in 1981 I was seven years old, so it's nice being given a second chance to see them. Not being the biggest fan of what the four members have done in the last 23 years I didn't really expect much, but it was a good show, and fun to see Genesis, Cosey, Sleazy and Chris enjoy themselves.

IT'S HERE!
10.05.2004
Finally! Here's the full version of this homepage. Properly designed and programmed by the very talented (and ever patient) Håvard Gjelseth of This Way Design, who also did the Jazzkammer site a few months back. Håvard did the general design and I've been sitting here for a month and a half filling in all the stuff. Web pages takes forever. Anyway - the design and photo galleries are up, more mp3 is added, all releases have their own pages with cover scans (yes that did take forever), design gallery is updated, plus lots more. It's not 100% finished; the menues on the photos section will be changed, and the cassette covers are yet to be scanned, but this will be corrected shortly. Please browse around and let me know how you like it.

JAZZKAMMER TO TOUR AMERICA!
09.05.2004
Jazzkammer is doing 14 concerts in 14 days in late may/early june across the US of A. Dates to the left. Special thanks to Howard Stelzer who made it all happen and who will be going with us.

SOLO VINYL - OFF WITH MY HEAD
05.05.2004
Yet another solo album is just released. "Bring me the head of Lasse Marhaug" is a 12" vinyl LP released by new american label Peer Pressure Zombie. This vinyl-only release can be seen as a sister-release to "The Shape of Rock to Come", as the two albums were recorded simultaneously. They also feature quite simular artwork. In the US the record is distributed via Revolver, but I'm not sure about europe.

SHAPE OF ROCK RELEASED
12.04.2004
New solo album out now on Smalltown Supersound. "The Shape of Rock to Come". This is the follow-up to 2001's "Nothing But Sound From Now On" - and is musically a very different record. No rapidfire editing or digiambient, this album is more akin to my solo concerts, with the big fat warm wall of noise sound and mindless feedback freakouts. Recorded 2003 in Oslo and features contributions from black metal band Thorns. Reviews in the norwegian press have been surprisingly positive, even got a 6/6 in one paper - so I must be doing something wrong. It might not be in foreign shops until later in spring, but those interested can mailorder from Apartment Mailorder or Smalltown Supersound directly.
