NEW RELEASES: COCK OF CORPSE + COMP
29.12.2010

Norwegian tape label Tape Rape has put out a Cock of Corpse cassette called "Victims Of Circumcision" - which is our take on a Judas Preist classic. Tape Rape has also an excellent overview of the Norwegian noise scene in the form of a compilation called "Think Before You Act". Visit Tape Rape's site for ordering information. Probably also available at Looop.

NEW RELEASE: TONGUES OF MOUNT MERU
26.12.2010

Japanese cassette label Ginjoha has released a new cassette of Tongues of Mount Meru called "Hiranyagarbha". We're not swaying far from our previous works, this is pure drone music. The cover features a cosmic elephant giving birth to a planet. Available from Ginjoha. 100 copies.

BACK IN THE COLD
6.12.2010

Just finished a two week trip to South-East Asia. I did a project together with Leslie Low, John Hegre and Yuen Chee-Wai in Singpore a the Norwegian Seamen's Church. Afterwards me and John played as Jazkamer in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. Thanks to all our friends who helped and made it such a good time. I will upload some video, images and audio shortly. On a sad note one of my old heroes, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson, who's been living in Bangkok the last few years, died just before I arrived there. I visited one evening of his week-long funeral ceremony to pay my respect. Throbbing Gristle still remains one of the most influential bands of my youth. RIP Unkle Sleazy.

Congratulations to my good friend Håvard Gjelseth for winning an award for his design work on my 2x7" single "The Orange Dome Chronicles". It's much deserved. Also for those interested I have copies of a limited edition poster Håvard has printed of the design. The design is silkscreened on thick gold paper stock. Limited and signed. Looks very nice. Ideal for framing. Please email me if interested.

Ukrainian label Quasi Pop have just released a split single with Burning Star Core and DEL. This is the 'band' line-up of BXC, with Hair Police members. DEL is in rock mode too. And this track is actually the only thing we managed to records in 2008! Luckily we've been more productive in 2009 and 2010, so expect some new releases in the not too distant future.

NEW RELEASE: JAZKAMER'S JUNE ALBUM
1.6.2010

The Jazkamer monthly series is going like clockwork, even if I sometimes forget to post about it here. The June album - titled "We Want Epic Drama" - is now available. I've posted a soundclip at YouTube.

ORGELNATT SOUNDCLIPS POSTED
1.6.2010

Nils Henrik Asheim has posted some audioclips from the the Orgelnatt-tour we did last last month in Norway at his website. Orgelnatt translates to 'Organ Night' and is (in part) a continuation of the "Grand Mutation" album I did with Nils Henrik in 2007. The two-hours shows also featured Frode Gjerstad, Elisabet Vatn and Paal Nilssen-Love.

ANASTASIA AX VIDEO
23.5.2010

Here's a video clip of my performance with Anastasia Ax.

NEW RELEASE: TESTICLE HAZARD DEBUTS ON 7"!
18.5.2010

Italian 7"-only label A Dear Girl Called Wendy has released a Testicle Hazard single called "Het Potatis". It's two ridiculously liberating three-minute blasts of Finnish/Norwegian salmiakki stamina. Music to soothe the mind after a busy day of working at the farm. Expect a full album of Testicleness later in the year.

VIDEO WITH MY SOUNDWORK ON VIMEO
18.5.2010

Tom Løberg's short film THE LETTER (2004) is now available to watch on Vimeo. The film's soundtrack is all my sounds/music. This material also formed the basis of my 2005 mini-CD "Carnival of Souls". In hindsight I feel that the audio of the film plays better than what I did on the CD.

RIP RONN
16.5.2010

I'm very sad to hear about the passing of the greatest voice of heavy metal: Ronnie James Dio. I've been a big fan of his as long as I can remember; Rainbow, Dio, Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell. I saw him do an amazing performance with Heaven and Hell here in Oslo less than a year agao. He seemed to be at his peak, so his death feel much too premature. RIP and thank you for the music.

NEW ON PICA DISK: KEVIN DRUMM BOX
4.5.2010

The new release on my Pica Disk (outside of the monthly Jazkamer installments) is a 5CD box-set of Kevin Drumm. Kevin's been a friend for a long time so I'm very pleased to be releasing this mammoth set of his music. The full version of "Organ" is worth the price alone. More info at the Pica Disk website.

BACK FROM JAPAN
28.4.2010

Home from enjoyable tour of Japan. Five solo performances, collab with Pain Jerk, collab with Pika (Afrirampo) and a trio with me, Merzbow and Hair Stylistics. I also did some studio sessions which should materialize at some point. Travelled together with Norwegian snuff-improv duo Maranata, whose upcoming album on Roggbif is worth getting. Big thanks to all our Japanese friends who helped make this tour happen. A limited Marhaug/Maranara split cassette was made for the tour. No copies left.

TAPE ONLINE
4.4.2010

Someone put a decent-sounding mp3 of my "Hell is Empty" 2006 cassette on this blog. I also suggest the obscure "The Tan" CDR, also 2006, which you'll find on the same blog. This is a recording that I in hindsight feel deserves to be heard by more than five people.

NEW RELEASE: NOISECORE 7" DOWN UNDER
11.3.2010

Lucier Records in Australia have released a split 7" of Jazkamer and Sissy Spacek. Total noisecore material, with 37 tracks of both bands shuffled together, so it's probably more of a collab than a split. This is the first Jazkamer noisecore material to surface since "Art Breaker".

NEW RELEASE: BOOK AND FOUR CASSETTES
6.3.2010

“Camellia Sinensis” is a 4 x cassette / 64 page book deluxe box-set by Norwegian noise artist Lasse Marhaug. This release marks the 20th anniversary of Marhaug as a recording artist (in reference one of the tracks is titled “20 Years Of Nothing”), and features all new studio material recorded over the last two years in Oslo. The eight 15 minute pieces that makes “Camellia Sinensis” are all full-on harsh noise, using different techniques and instrumentation (guitar, turntables, scrap metal, objects etc), to create a varied selection of material. But the music is only half of “Camellia Sinensis”, as the box comes with a 64 page book of illustrations, photographs, drawings and texts, designed by Marhaug. The book is loosely divided into chapters that mirrors the themes of the titles from the cassettes. There is also an interview with Marhaug conducted by dogfart Aspa, dealing with cassette culture, originally published in the Special Interests fanzine #1. The four cassettes are pro-duplicated with label printing, and the book printed on glossy paper. Each book is numbered and signed by Marhaug. There will be no reissue of this material. Only 100 copies will be made. Out now on Tape Rape Records. Also available from Looop.

BACK FROM TOUR
6.3.2010

I've been touring since late January. First two gigs with Frode Gjerstad's 12-piece Circulasione Totale Orchestra in Philadelphia and Houston. Then I hit the West-Coast with John Wiese, playing both solo and duo-collaboration shows. Along the way I did studio-sessions with Sissy Spacek, Wiese and Rick/Jackie of Smegma. After that I toured across Europe with Fire Room, my trio with Ken Vandermark and Paal Nilssen-Love. This was our first proper tour since we released the "Broken Music" album in 2008. Finally my travels was rounded off with a Jazkamer gig here in Oslo two days ago. It's been immensely enjoyable, musically and socially. For those of you who ordered records from me during this time, Pica Disk or other discs; I've spent the last two days catching up and the last packages went out today. Thank you for your patience.

NEW RELEASE: COUNTRY AND WESTERN
5.3.2010

Helicopter have released a CD with me and John Wiese called "Country and Western". About bloody time we got together one could say, since me and John have been in touch since the mid-90's, and we're both fairly prolific in our recorded output. We talked about doing something together years ago, but agreed we should record it in person, and avoid it being another file-swapping exercise. Finally in 2008 we spent time in my studio in Oslo and now the CD is ready. I'm at a loss on how to describe the music, other than don't let the title fool you. We split the edition, so all europeans can order their copies from me.

VIDEOWORK BY TOM LØBERG
2.3.2010

Tom Løberg, director of the Nor-Noise documentary and the better half of Two Limited, has put up a Vimeo-channel for a project called Remembrance, in which he edits variations of the same raw video material to various artist's soundtracks. There's tracks by me, Anla Courtis/Maria Paz Levinson, The Golden Serenades, Origami Tacet, Oren Ambarchi, Michael Francis Duch, Guilty Connector, and Hild Sofie Tafjord.

NEW RELEASE: DEL "GRIM ACE" TAPE
25.1.2010

Stavanger-based long-running label Gold Soundz have released a DEL cassette. "Grim Ace" is C30 of full-on studio rock material. Probably the heaviest we've sounded in a long time, and in stark contrast the the lush drones of the "Villa Graps" LP. Edition of 50 copies.

NEW RELEASE: TONGUES OF MOUNT MERU TAPE
25.1.2010

The UK tape label Tapeworm have released a cassette of my drone project Tongues of Mount Meru. "The Delight of Assemply" is culled from the same session that made the "Ocean of Milk" LP. 250 copies with artwork by the legendary Savage Pencil.

NEW RELEASE: BEAUTY WITHOUT MERCY
23.1.2010

To celebrate their five year anniversary Utech Records has released a limited CD of me titled "Beauty Without Mercy". It's a single 20 minute piece based on mostly acoustic sounds. The cover is by Justin Bartlett after a photo of Stephen O'Malley. "Beauty Without Mercy" is only available directly from Utech, and it will not be distributed through the regular channels. I also have a handful of copies available for sale.

NEW RELEASE: DEL LP
5.1..2010
Finally there is a new vinyl release by DEL. We're known to take our time, and this is no exception. The "Villa Graps" LP is out now on Apartment Records, and features recordings made in 2006. To celebrate the release we'll make a performance sin the Emanuel Vigeland Museum in Oslo, a quite unique place with amazing acoustics. Don't forget to dress warm as Oslo is freezingly cold this week and the heating in the museum is limited. The LP is available from Looop. I've also got a few copies for sale.
