Lasse Marhaug: Science Fiction Room Service
CD - Jazzassin Records, Norway - 1996
Reviews:
LASSE MARHAUGs "Science Fiction Room Service" CD
I never dreamed that this kinds of chaotic sounds rise from Nothern Europe,
because the words "Nothern Europe" musically reminds me of symphonic progressive
rock or traditional folk sounds. Though I have known there exists strange techno
sounds or even noise which sounds very ritualistic, this "Science Fcition Room
Service" CD sounds was beyond my image of Northern Europe music. This CD was
mailed directly to me from Lasse Marhaug himself. To tell the truth, I didn't
expect so much before listening to it. However, its sound waked me up. "What the
hell is this Merzbowish sound???" Soon, I noticed the name of the artist. I
remember this artists name was seen on the split 7-inch by Merzbow (Jazz001).
The counterpart to Merzbow was Lasse Marhaug. All of a sudden, I understand the
situation. And with some regret that I haven't paid much attention to the new
artists in the noise music scene, I read the information paper he sent to me
with the CD. I would like to give the readers that information about him. He has
released many cassettes as "Herb Mullin" and "Egoproblem", but decided to
release works as Lasse Marhaug, his real name, since 1996. His works where he
plays tape manipulation, electronics, vocal, bass, guitar and scrap metal are
well deserved to world's notice."
