JAZZASSIN RECORDS AND TWR TAPES
Jazzassin Records

Jazzassin Records was started in 1996 and ended in 2002. Never intended as a "proper" label, but more as playground for whatever sounds and in whatever
packaging I desired to put out. Some of the releases remain available, although
in low quantities.

Lasse Marhaug/Merzbow: Split 7" single (Jazz001, 1996)
500 copies made, with
an additional 24 copies in hand-made black plastic sleeves with white paint footprints
on them. DELETED.

Lasse Marhaug: Science Fiction Room Service CD (Jazz002, 1996)
Debut solo album,
in slim cover with silver print. 500 copies. DELETED.

Gerogerigegege/Origami Erotika: Seven Inches of Meat 7" single (Jazz003,
1996) Packed in a poster of very explicit erotic artwork (which I didn't get to
see until after it was printed) with a booklet. We never heard back from Yuntaro
Yamanouchi (aka Gerogerigegege) after sending him his copies. One rumour said
that he was displeased with the release and blaiming us for "ruining his
gay image" with the heterosexual nature of the artwork, although this was
never confirmed. 800 copies. DELETED.

Origami Replika: Ka/Skader CD (Jazz004, 1996)
Origami Replika was the trash/noise/punk/scumrock
fraction of the Origami Republika network (the two are often confused), and this
is a compilation of tracks from deleted cassette releases (most from before I
joined the band). Has a small contribution by Michael Gira. Same cover package
as Jazz004, with 28 in a special packaging. DELETED.

Gom/Lasse Marhaug and Illuminated 6.6.6: Split 7" single (Jazz005, 1997)
Joint release with Apartment Records, so the Gom side is Apartment, while the
Jazzassin side is a collaboration with me and Hong Kong act Illuminated 6.6.6.
350 copies in handmade covers. DELETED.

various artists: We Hate You: A Small Tribute to Throbbing Gristle 7" single and CD (Jazz006, 1997)
Compilation of Jarboe, Aube, Deutsch Nepal, Illusion of
Safety, Gerogerigegege, Origami Replika, Anus Presley, Atrax Morgue, Inca Eyeball,
Merzbow, KK Null, Cosmonauts Hail Satan, Tranquil, Mouring Cloak, Orchard, Famlende
Forsøk and Eugene Chadbourne doing covers of Throbbing Gristle classics.
Artwork by Sverre H. Kristensen. 8 page booklet with Michael Gira contributions.
Less than 500 copies made. Sold out really fast. DELETED.

Aube/Lasse Marhaug: New Forms of Free Entertainment CD (Jazz007, 1997) Collaboration
(via mail) of me and japanese artist Aube. Printed hand folded cover and inserts, artwork
which pays tribute to cassette tape culture. 500 copies. DELETED.

Origami Replika: : SchMerzPunkDaDa 7" single CD (Jazz008, 1997)
First in
Origami Replika's SchMerzPunkDaDa concept which put us on the road of now infamous
chaotic and violent live performances for the next two years. Promoted as a 7" single, but was actually a full CD, with 55 minute bonus track of obscene phonecalls,
drunken rants and studio out-takes. The bonus track has seperate channels, so
it's actually a 110 minute bonus track. 5000 numbered copies. AVAILABLE.

DEL/Green Monkey: Satan is Boring/Inhuman split 7" single (Jazz009, 1998)
First in a series of proposed Sonic Youth cover-song series by DEL, here with
UK rockers Green Monkey. 444 copies on splattered green vinyl, with inserts and
liner notes by Thruston Moore. Co-released with three other labels. DELETED.

Grunt/Bad Kharma/Lasse Marhaug: Scandinavian Noise Manifesto CD (Jazz010, 1998)
Me from Norway, Bad Kharma from Sweden and Grunt from Finland, with some sort
of ironic noise manifesto. What still surprises me to this day is that nobody
ever commented that Finland is a not a part of Scandinavia! Same package as the
Aube CD, and with liner notes by T.Mikawa of Incapacitants. 500 copies. DELETED.

Jarboe: Beast 7" single picture disc (Jazz011, 1998)
Spoken word pieces by
Jarboe (of Swans fame), with artwork by Trevor Brown. 600 copies made. This sold
out very fast, and I now see it go for quite high sums at ebay and other places.

Der Brief: Volum CD (Jazz012, 1998)
John Hegre's improv power trio.
Guitar, drums and electronics pushed to the limit. Known for having the loudest
release party in Norway. Produced by Jørgen 'Sir Dupermann' Traeen. Jewelcase
cover. 500 copies. AVAILABLE.

Merzbow: New Takamagahara CD (Jazz013, 1998)
Co-releases with OHM Records. Jewelcase
cover. 1000 copies. DELETED.

Anus Presley: Music to Listen to When You're Dead CD (Jazz014, 1999)
The bizarre
power electronics cut-up collage noise project of danish controversial film maker
og comix artist Sverre H.Kristensen, who died only a few months after compiling
this 'Best-of' collage taken from obscure Anus Presley cassettes from the 80ies.
The title was chosen by Sverre before he died. Cover put together with the kind
co-operation of JR Bruun, one of Sverre's closest friends. At the moment this
is only available document of Sverre's music. Jewelcase cover. 500 copies. AVAILABLE.

Arm/Clop Neplat/Jazzkammer/KA: Good Music CD (Jazz015, 2000) Compilation/showcase
of four norwegian projects. Jewelcase cover. 500 copies. AVAILABLE.

Tore Honore Bøe: Siesta CD (Jazz0016, 2001)
Lower-case micro-soundscapes
made out of filed recordings made in Africa, after years and hundreds of Origami
releases, this was Tore's debut solo album. 500 copies. DELETED.

Tore Honore Bøe: Zenography CD (Jazz0017, 2002)
Undertitled "Opus
for unprepared piano + e-bow + street life", this is acoustic minimalism
drone string music from Tore, edited down from 14 hours of recordings made only
with a naked piano and an e-bow. Same cover type as "Science Fiction Room
Service". 500 copies. AVAILABLE.
TWR Tapes

TWR Tapes (TWR = Tidal Wave Recycling) has been my cassette/DAT tape
label since 1995. After the first ten releases I stopped using catalog numbers,
so no complete list of TWR releases exists, so some releases might have escaped
my otherwise brilliant memory and not been included on this list. Tapes available
upon request/seeking reissue on other labels.
